We had a wonderful time at the 2011 Creative Craft Retreat... I hope you did! I have just finished uploading the photos, in record time (for me)! I hope you enjoy the slideshow. There were many more photos taken but I had to put a limit somewhere!

Every year we receive many wonderful comments about the retreat, and this year is no different. Here are some of the comments:

The next retreat will be the 2-4 November 2012, and plans are already well underway. It seems that we have a speaker lined up, think spot person, most teachers and an on-line registration and payment facility. Can you wait that long... a whole year?!

14 Days to Go!

Yes, it is only two weeks to craft retreat - sounds better than 14 days don't you think! Registrations are closed and you should have your confirmation letter and requirements lists by now, so if you haven't, you'd better let me know ASAP! If you need transport, the details will be arranged next week.

Are you excited yet? Have you got all your supplies ready? I'm still deciding on what "Do Your Own Thing" craft/art I will be taking, and I will probably decide in two weeks time as I have so much to do and think about before then! Don't forget to bring your name tag along. If you don't have one, just a piece of cardboard with your name on will do! If you are feeling creative you might like to make something a little more interesting!

Maybe you've been busy making things for the craft stall or have found some no longer needed craft supplies or craft magazines to sell. Or maybe you're saving your pennies so you can spend it on some lovely crafty goodies! There is always an amazing array of things to choose from.

Well, time is ticking on, so I'd better get back to my big list of things to do! See you soon!

Registrations Close This Friday (7th October)

Doesn't time fly?! It is already October which means registrations close for the Craft Retreat this Friday, the 7th October. If you don't want to miss out on a wonderful weekend away, this week is your last chance to fill out a registration form and pop it in the post. Some classes are proving popular, so you will need to be quick to ensure you get your first choice.

If you have already registered, I plan on emailing confirmation letters and class requirements lists this week, so be sure to check your email inbox! There is lots of information in the letter, so it should answer most, or all of the questions you may have!

While you are waiting for registration forms to come out (next week, I hope!), I thought you would like to know who our teachers will be this year. If you have been to previous retreats, you will recognise most of the names:

Of course, you can bring your own craft project to do (or reading, or whatever else you might want to do!) and enjoy a relaxing weekend away. Make sure you tell your friends and family about it - it's a great, affordable retreat and caters for those who are on a budget... and those who aren't! You will find photos of previous years in the photo tab to give you an idea of what we get up to!

You can also start making goodies to sell at the craft stall if you are that way inclined and if you want to be really organised, you could start thinking about your name tag - whether you make a fancy one or whether you will just right your name on a piece of paper! It's up to you.

You may have noticed a few changes here at the Creative Craft Retreat blog. Do you like the green for this year?

For a start, I'm not Janelle! I'm Tonya and I'm a friend of Janelle's who is helping out a little here in the Blogosphere. I usually blog over at the The Crafty Mummy. Nice to meet you!

15 Days To Go!

Can you believe that it is only 15 days to go to craft retreat? I can't, but fortunately for you, time cannot be changed! I feel like there is still so much to do and certainly not enough hours in the day to do it, but everything always comes together in the end, so I know everything will get done at some stage! Registrations are closed and you should all have your confirmation letters and requirements lists by now, so if you haven't, you'd better let me know ASAP! If you need transport, the details will be arranged early next week.

Thought you might like to have a peek at teacher Robyn's now (if not before) famous quilt which won first prize in the "Best of Show" category at the 2010 Queensland Quilt Show. It is not surprising considering the beautiful work that Robyn does, and they always have to be seen in real life to be really appreciated. Just gorgeous!

Yes, that's right! Registrations close for the Craft Retreat this Friday, the 8th October. If you want to attend the retreat, make sure you pop your form in the post before then otherwise you will run the risk of missing out. This will also ensure your spot in a class!

Can you believe it is September already? I can't... I'm still wondering where July and August went! It's been a hectic couple of months, but I have managed to find a 6th teacher for the retreat... Sharon Roberts, an accomplished artist. I'm excited about the quality of teachers we have for 2010 and what we have on offer.

2010 Creative Craft Retreat

I've been slowly working on the 2010 Creative Craft Retreat which will be held this year on the 5-7 November 2010, once again at Lake Perseverance Recreation Centre, north of Toowoomba near Crows Nest.

I already have five teachers lined up to teach and have one more to finalise. Once again we have a list of quality teachers and a range of craft classes to choose from, but you will have to wait a little while before you find out what all the classes are. Most of the teacher's names you will recognise from last year - Robyn Ginn (an amazing embroiderer and quilter), Val Laird (from Val Laird Designs), Kris Meares - the Tag Along Teddies' lady, Liz Whittaker from Scrap n Patch and Valda Schmacker (a Genesis Creations instructor) who will be teaching silk painting.

If you don't want to sign up for one of the weekend classes you can bring your own craft project to do and enjoy a relaxing weekend away. Don't forget to tell your friends and family about it - it's a great, affordable retreat and caters for those who are on a budget... and those who aren't! Three Weeks to Go!

Creative Craft Retreat is less than three weeks away... can you believe it??!! It seems to be sneaking up on me too quickly! Registration is now closed, so I hope you haven't missed out! If you have, make sure you put next year's date in the diary (5-7 November 2010) so you don't miss out! We have more than 45 participants and teachers registered and if you are one of them you should have received your confirmation email or letter by now, and also a list of class requirements if you have signed up for one of the wonderful classes that we have on offer. If you have not received this information please contact me as soon as possible.

I have been busily getting lots of things organised for the retreat, and still have lots to do. One of those things is to make a name tag for myself, and so I have fiddled around with some wool and thread and have done about half of it now. Have you made a start on your name tag, or even finished it? Or maybe you'll take the easy option and bring a pre-made one, or write on a piece of cardboard and put a pin through it! Anything will do!

What about the craft stall? Have you been saving your pennies? Maybe you've been industrious and have been busily making things to sell? Or maybe you've been tidying up your craft corner and have found some no longer needed craft supplies or craft magazines?

2009 Craft Retreat Update

Craft retreat is only 8 1/2 weeks away, so I thought I'd better let you know that craft retreat brochures and registration forms are being finalised and should be available on this site early next week... so stay tuned! We have an exciting line up of experienced teachers who have so much knowledge and expertise (see previous posts) as well as guest speaker, Julie Inskip. I hope you're looking forward to it, and have told all your friends about it!

The Teachers!

In the past three weeks I have found four more teachers to teach at the Craft Retreat in October, so I can now tick that job off the list!

Leanne Midgley, who taught folk art last year will be teaching folk art again and Helen Briese will also be returning to teach card making. The other two teachers taught at our first retreat in 2007; Kris Meares from Tag Along Teddies will be teaching one or two of her furry friends and Liz Whittaker from Scrap N Patch will be teaching scrapbooking. With the addition of Val Laird teaching embroidery and applique and Robyn Ginn teaching crazy patchwork and embellishing techniques (see previous post) we have a wide variety of classes and a great group of very talented teachers. I'm very excited to have these six lovely ladies lined up to teach... I hope you are too!

2009 Craft Retreat!

I thought it was about time that I update you on the 2009 Craft Retreat... some ladies were asking about it at the beginning of the year, so I figure some of you may be keen for some more information!

This year's retreat will be held on the 16th - 18th October, 2009 at the same beautiful and very suitable location - Lake Perseverance Recreation Centre, north of Toowoomba near Crows Nest.

We already have two out of the six teachers lined up to teach - Val Laird who has taught at our previous retreats, and Robyn Ginn who spoke at our first retreat, and taught at our second. I believe Robyn will be teaching Crazy Patchwork and her embellishing techniques, and you will have to wait and see what Val will be offering! Of course there will be a range of craft classes to choose from but you will have to wait a while before you find out what they all are! If you don't want to sign up for one of the classes you can bring your own craft to do and enjoy a weekend away. In the meantime, tell your family and friends about the retreat and start saving your pennies!

Finally... I have put the craft retreat photos on here for you to have a look at! Sorry it's taken so long. To tell you the truth I was doing a little procrastinating in amongst all my busyness (and sick children), and then I landed a new computer which stalled everything for a week! I then had a 'light bulb' moment which caused me to realise how easy it was to put a heap of photos on, and then I had another 'light bulb' moment when I realised that I could convert the already made power point presentation into jpegs so that you could view them instead of lots of individual photos!

Anyway I hope you enjoy the photos! There is a link on the right so that you can view 2007 photos as well. Keep telling your friends about next year's retreat on the 16-18 October, 2009. It's not to be missed!

I am also interested to know your preferred time of year for Craft Retreat to enable me to plan for future craft retreats. You can now let me know by taking a vote (on the right)!

2008 Craft Retreat

The 2008 Creative Craft Retreat was a great success! There were 40 of us who attended, and we had a great time, learning a new craft, teaching a craft or doing our own thing; making new friends; having fun together; having a laugh together; being inspired.

Here are some comments from some of the ladies that attended:

It's a thrill to see all the hard work 'pay off' and to see all the ladies having a wonderful time. Thanks to all who came, all who taught, and all who spoke!

(By the way, some of you may be wondering if I finished the Christmas Angel Cross-stitch... I finished it the Thursday just after the retreat, just in time for Mum to sew it into a Christmas stocking before she went back to South Australia on the Friday! Close, But Still Lots To Do!

As I write this, Craft Retreat is only three weeks away! That doesn't leave me much time to get organised does it!!? Registrations are now closed and we have 40 participants (which includes teachers) registered for the retreat, which is very exciting.

If you have sent or given me a registration form you should have received your confirmation email or letter by now as well as a list of requirements for your chosen craft class. Please contact me as soon as possible if you have not received it, as there is lots of important information contained in the letter/email which is not to be missed.

Have you thought about bringing some things along to sell at the craft stall? If you have craft magazines or craft supplies that you no longer have a use for, you can pop them on the stall too.

What about your name tag? Have you started making one yet? Or are you going to take the easy option and just bring one along? I'm still thinking about mine. I do have one from last year, but I would like to improve on that this year! Whether I have time to do anything different... well that's another matter!

Anyway, I hope you are as excited about the retreat as I am! Looking forward to seeing you there!
